Behind the scenes of filming in Cookham

Here is a video of us filming in Cookham station and butchers. At the butchers we managed to capture several shots of the meat being cut, chopped and some radio shots. These shots were shown from a variety of camera angles that should give the film an effective touch and gruesome atmosphere. At the station, and partly at the butchers, we used my grandpa for the shots as an actor holding the bag for a duration of the sequence. We were able to have a shot of him standing at the station when the bus arrived, then when the bus left, he was remaining standing there except the bag had gone. This implied that the bag had been taken by someone on the train and starts the travelling of the bag being passed by many people in London.

Behind the Scenes of 'Anonymous'

This is a video of footage from when we went to London in February half term to film for our film 'Anonymous' including shots of videos, pictures of filming and comments on how we made specific shots more effective (e.g. using equipment to steady the camera for tracking shots).

Ellipses sequence planning and preparation

During class, we filmed our group discussion on the Ellipses Sequence in which we were influenced by the 'Move' video. In this documentation, we talk about the characters that would be involved in this sequence, the positioning of it in the video, shot types, the ways in which we will make it an effective piece of filming, precautions to take, the shots after the video and provided examples of images of locations. There will be a variety of locations used, including Cookham, all around London (including transportation- on buses and trains) and in Shiplake Basement, adding to the diversity of places we can film at.

We used different places around Shiplake to test out our Ellipses Video, using ourselves and others to make it more convenient and to make sure we know what to do before traveling to London and filming the real thing.

Shooting Schedule

Here is our groups schedule of what times our shots will be taken at, how long they will be, the locations they'll be taken at, the cast&crew involved, any equipment or props needed, the shot type and any notes that will give more further information valid to detail of the specific shot.

Planning for Storyboard

Here is the video for when we were discussing the storyboarding we have done previously, for example the meant being cut up in Cookham, around Cookham train station and various shots in London.

Risk Assessment

In order for our trip to be safe, we must take precautions into account, therefore our risk assessment allowed us to know what to do and what not to do whilst in London.

Location Shots

In these pictures, these locations are shown;
  • Cookham Butchers & Cookham Railway Station
  • Cookham to London Paddington
  • London Underground from Paddington to Oxford Circus
  • Oxford Circus, Conduit Street & Carnaby Street
  • Trafalgar Square
  • Piccadilly Circus
  • Westminster Station & Waterloo Station
  • Golden Jubilee Bridge, Westminster Bridge, Hungerford Bridge & Millennium Bridge
In February half term, my group and I traveled around London to get shots of several locations in which we thought would be appropriate to film in. On a separate day, Cam went to Cookham to get shots of the station and butchers in which we will film on a later day. We managed to obtain the pictures we needed and visited the places we thought were suitable for our film making our day successful and worth the time.

Audience Research

Here is the first part to our audience research interviews. We filmed 2 groups of students at Shiplake College to gather information for the development into our main task. Along with this, we also collected information through the use of online questionnaires and sharing them onto our social media and interviewed a few members of the general public that came under our desired target audience.

This is the second part to our audience research of Shiplake College students. Again, we showed them a clip and then asked them to express their opinions about it.

This is the third part to our audience research in which we interviewed the general public in Henley questions based on what people like about films, providing us with a more thorough knowledge of how to make our sequence more effective.

This was the questionnaire we used;

Audience Research
Please fill out this questionnaire for our Media Coursework, it would be much appreciated. The purpose of this is for us to get some some audience feedback so that we are able to make improvements for our opening scene coursework. Thank you!

Treatment Video

This is our Treatment video in which we discuss our main project, the influences we based it on, target audience and location ideas.

Further notes on 'Move':

   The video 'Move' on Vimeo inspired us into using the ellipses effect, shortening an amount of time using several quick shots. This use of sped up time allows us to make the exchanging of the Holdall bag to be of a quicker sequence, maintaining the audience's attention and keeping the video interesting with effective techniques.
   We will adapt their idea by using different actors in each shot instead of using the same actor throughout, therefore displaying the journey of the bag by several people not just the one.
   The changing of location will be interpreted in our video, conveying a selection of locations all in London, with a few in Cookham, involving public transport shots.
